3. The Lakers have been the worst 3-point shooting team in the league this season

This is unfortunately not an exaggeration in any way, as the young Lakers have struggled mightily from beyond the arc to start off the season. The team is shooting a league-worst 32.8 percent on 3-point shots while taking the 20th most 3-point shots per game.

This is clearly a function of the fact that the team simply lacks pure shooters on the roster who can knock down shots consistently from the outside. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope leads the team with 2.2 3-pointers per game, but he has never been known as a major threat from the outside in the eyes of opposing defenses.

Percentage-wise it’s not a surprise to Lakers fans that Kyle Kuzma is leading the team by shooting 40.5 percent from the outside on 4.7 attempts per game. It’s clear that the team needs to add some shooters to this roster if they want to start capitalizing on the great looks the team has been generating with its passing.

In today’s NBA, it has become incredibly important to have players that can consistently knock down 3-pointers, as we have seen how the Warriors have terrorized the league with their ability to hit these shots. This is just one reason why the Lakers could find themselves on the naughty list this year.
