2. Donovan Mitchell, Utah Jazz

Last rank: No. 1 (↓1)

Donovan Mitchell has missed the Utah Jazz‘s previous two games with a toe contusion, but his spot in the Rookie of the Year ladder power rankings is safe, for now. The Jazz have gotten mixed results in Mitchell’s absence as they’ve gone 1-1 so far. His status for their game Saturday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder is currently up in the air.

Mitchell is Utah’s latest casualty to face the injury bug. Center Rudy Gobert is set to miss extended time after sustaining a sprained PCL and bone bruise in his tibia back on Dec. 15 against the Celtics. Gobert has appeared in just 18 games for Utah this season, who have a 15-18 record.

They will need Mitchell soon if they hope for their offensive numbers to improve. Mitchell is averaging 18.2 points, 4.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in Utah victories this season. The Utah Jazz rank 24th in points per game (102.1) in 2017-18, a number that will rise with Mitchell in the rotation.
