The Chicago Bulls extended their winning streak to three games, with an impressive 108-85 win over the Boston Celtics. Here are the main takeaways from this contest.

Despite the ugly start to their season, the Chicago Bulls had actually produced a two-game winning streak heading into their matchup against the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Thanks to the addition of Kyrie Irving during the offseason, the Celtics had posted 23 victories in their first 28 games.

That being said, on paper, this one had all the makings of a mismatch across the board. This especially was true considering the Bulls were a whopping 15 games under .500.

For the one of the few times this season, though, good fortune was on the side of the home team, as Irving would sit this one out thanks to a quadriceps muscle contusion. Would Irving’s absence from the Celtics lineup be enough to even up the odds for these baby Bulls?

In a word: Absolutely.

The two teams battled back-and-forth during the game’s first 12 minutes, as the Celtics took a slim 29-28 lead into the second quarter. From that point on, however, the Bulls played an inspired brand of basketball, to say the least.

Thanks to a 24-2 run during the second period, the Bulls took a 56-42 lead into the break. Even when the Celtics began to rally in the fourth quarter, instead of folding as they had done several times before, the Bulls distanced themselves from their opponent down the stretch and came away with an impressive 108-85 victory over the top team in the Eastern Conference.

Here’s a look at the main takeaways from this contest.
