After a week hiatus, the Rookie of the Year ladder power rankings returns in Week 8. There are a few new faces on the ladder as a few rookies are out with injury.

The rookies are finding their rhythm as the NBA season enters the third month on the schedule. The Utah Jazz seem to be getting over the departure of Gordon Hayward rather quickly with the emergence of Donovan Mitchell. The rookie out of Louisville has slowly risen to the top of the Rookie of the Year ladder with a number of strong performances.

Impact has been the theme when it comes to this year’s rookie class. There are a lot of players from the 2017 NBA Draft making a name for themselves early in the 2017-18 season. Unfortunately, there aren’t any in the top 10 scoring yet, but they are making an impact nonetheless.

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball has made some adjustments, which were key in a 107-104 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night. His shooting hasn’t improved much, but he hasn’t let that deter him from setting up guys like Brandon Ingram for game-winning jump shots.

Another interesting product on this week’s Rookie of the Year ladder is the impact of overseas players. A few have managed to crack the Week 8 power rankings after some noticeable performances in the past few weeks.

Here’s a look at this week’s honorable mention picks on the Rookie of the Year ladder.

Honorable mentions: Bam Adebayo, De’Aaron Fox, OG Anunoby
