The Week 8 edition of underperformers and overachievers has some new faces on it as well as a familiar one as the NBA season continues to roll along.

Last week’s edition of underperformers and overachievers had quite the effect on the bottom line. Take Alec Burks, one underperformer from last week. Since last week’s article, Burks is averaging 22.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in the Utah Jazz‘ last four contests.

He could very easily transition from an underperformer to an overachiever, but for now, he’ll take Honorable Mention this week. The timing of Burks stepping up is big in the absence of Joe Johnson, but Burks isn’t the only guy outdoing expectations set before him.

The Eastern and Western Conference seemed top-heavy at first, but it’s the performance of the role players that’s made the difference. Overachievers keep the ship afloat while underperformers sink the ship for teams looking to make an impact.

In this week’s edition, there’s a fresh batch of overachievers and underperformers from all over the NBA. A few underperformers could find themselves on a new team by season’s end if things don’t improve. As for the overachievers, some early All-Star nods could be in a few players’ future as they continue to impress.

Here’s a look at this week’s underperformers and overachievers for Week 8.
