New Orleans Pelicans: 3 wishes this holiday season
By Eric Magana
2. Playoff appearance
While it is the holiday season, Santa Claus may bring a late gift in May. The New Orleans Pelicans haven’t been in the playoffs since the 2014-15 season.
That season, the team won 45 games and even though they were swept, they gave the Golden State Warriors a thrilling and competitive series. Check out the highlights from their thrilling Game 3 of that series.
If that Pelicans squad can at least give the Warriors a competitive game, imagine what kind of noise a duo of Davis and Cousins could generate. Add on some nice shooters like Holiday and E’Twaun Moore with some defense from Allen and Rondo, and things could happen for this team.
What the Pelicans should aim for is the fifth or sixth seed. In a position like that, New Orleans gets a better matchup, and the possibility to advance past the first round.
A series between the Pelicans and the Minnesota Timberwolves, or maybe the Oklahoma City Thunder? Those sound like fun. A series vs. the Houston Rockets or Golden State Warriors? Not so much. Of course, who knows how these teams will look come May. Until then, the Pels should focus on getting better and make the playoffs.
Cousins must be hungry to make the playoffs. So far, he’s showing the right signs. His team is competing and he has a partner to help him out. With some more help from the other guys, the New Orleans Pelicans should be a playoff team this season. And if they sneak in, watch out. These two big guys seem to cause havoc no matter who the opponent is.
