Brooklyn Nets forward Trevor Booker continues to do his part in improving the team’s overall development on and off the basketball court.

Trevor Booker is in his second season as a member of the Brooklyn Nets and is already carving out a nice place for him on the team and in the community. The seven-year NBA forward has been a consistent contributor for the team crashing the boards and securing much-needed victories as he helped to do in the team’s last game against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

Booker is averaging 10.8 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while splitting his time at either power forward or center for the injury-depleted front line. At 6’8″ and 228 pounds, he still manages to play well above his siz,e battling the much bigger and taller opponents constantly thrown at him around the league.

The Clemson alum notched an important double-double in Wednesday’s win over the Mavericks, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. His hustle and willingness to match up with a guy destined for the basketball Hall of fFame in Dirk Nowitzki further defined his vital role on the team for doing the “dirty work.”

Booker may be seen by many as the tough guy who battles in the trenches for rebounds or occasionally wanders into another team’s huddle, as he so infamously did last month against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

When he’s not on the court, the NBA veteran showed his strong charitable side by hosting a breakfast cereal drive for the less fortunate. Booker collected cereal Friday night at Key Food on Fulton Street in Brooklyn, New York, just a short distance from the Barclays Center. He used his personal love for cereal and turned it into a special local event that gave Nets fans the opportunity to meet and greet a fan favorite.

"“I’m a big cereal guy so I came up with the initiative to have a cereal drive.“I just like helping people out, that’s the biggest thing for me. Cereal man, I love cereal, it’s one of my favorite foods. I just try to be creative in the ways that I help out and this is one of the things I came up with a few years back.”"

Nets senior manager of community relations Michael Wisniewski was among the many Brooklyn fans surrounding Booker gave more insight on the event.

"“Every year Trevor has a cereal type of event, this year is a cereal give back so anyone who donates a box of cereal gets to meet Trevor take a picture get a autograph. All the cereal we accumulate during this event goes back to Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger. It’s a food pantry so we give back to the less fortunate so it’s a creative way to get a donation back to the food pantry.”"

At the event Booker answered a few questions regarding his personal best contribution to the team during games and next matchup against the struggling Atlanta Hawks Saturday afternoon at Barclays Center.

"“I try to use my strength and mobility as much as possible, I try to stay around the basket and it puts me in position to get those rebounds. We playing against a team that plays hard and they don’t have the best record in the NBA, but they play hard and if we don’t come out ready they could beat us.”"

The Nets will continue to rely on Booker’s contributions throughout the season as they continue to play without injured key players. As in the case with his love for cereal, Booker will be well fueled heading into December as the Nets look to make a run before the new year.
