J.P. Macura — Guard, Xavier

The senior affectionately known by some as “J.P. Sleeves” for his tendency to wear long sleeve shirts has ditched the look for the most part this season.  But he has not left behind his all-around game.

Macura has been relatively quiet in some games, but when he needs to, he’s flashed the ability to be a go-to scorer. His versatility makes him an interesting option for any team already stocked with wing scorers like the Timberwolves.

At 6’5″, Macura is a jack-of-all-trades. His current career averages are 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per 40 minutes. He is a good team-defender. Macura gets steals without gambling, and is capable of fronting bigger players in the post on a switch. He is a future “glue guy,” and that is precisely why he would fit in with Minnesota.

In the 2017-18 season, Macura is shooting a career-high 59.3 percent from the field. He is shooting 80 percent from the free throw line on a healthy five attempts per game, and 38 percent from the 3-point line.

Macura has raised his assist percentage every year, and I could envision him becoming one of Thibs favorite players for his grit and tenacity on the floor. He could man either wing spot for a solid 15-20 minutes a night. Macura is a high-IQ player, and best of all, his hometown is Lakeville, Minnesota.
