The Detroit Pistons leave Boston with a 10 point victory over the Eastern Conference leaders and another important win on the road.
The Detroit Pistons have faced one rough patch this season. After losing back-to-back games on the road, they bounced back to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Pistons followed that win with a demoralizing loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at home in Detroit.
The Cavs destroyed every aspect of the Pistons’ game plan. Immediately after the 28-point throttling from the Cavs, people started fleeing from the Pistons’ bandwagon like lemmings.
The “I told you so” groups who spent the first month of the season proclaiming the Pistons would soon return to their old ways loudly trumpeted their return to mediocrity.
But the Pistons weathered the storm and came back fighting.
They rode into OKC and stole a victory from the Oklahoma City Thunder. More than just a rebound game, the one-point victory over the Thunder was the Pistons’ sixth win over the formidable Western Conference this season. The Pistons are 6-1 against the West so far.
Monday night, the Pistons made themselves at home in Boston. Tobias Harris led the team in scoring with 31 points. Andre Drummond put the exclamation point on the road win against the Eastern Conference’s top team with 26 points, 21 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a drill, Deeeeetroit Basketball is back.
It’s time to stop wondering if the Pistons are pretenders and accept them as contenders. Here are three takeaways from the Pistons’ best road win this season.
