The Philadelphia 76ers are 10-7 almost two months into the 2017-18 season. Here’s a look at a few takeaways from their start.

The Philadelphia 76ers have seemingly turned a corner in “The Process” and it’s shown in their recent play. They are currently on a two-game winning streak after strong performances from Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons in a 101-81 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

Second-year big man Joel Embiid led the way with 28 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 11-of-19 from the field and 1-of-3 from 3-point range in 30 minutes of action.

Rookie Ben Simmons finished with 16 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals. It was arguably the worst shooting night of Simmons’ young career as he finished 8-of-20 (40 percent) from the field. It didn’t matter though, as Philadelphia jumped out to a 16-0 lead before Portland scored a basket.

Through their first 17 games, the Philadelphia 76ers have made a big turnaround with the addition of Simmons, Embiid among others. Embiid and Simmons have led the way while role players like Robert Covington and J.J. Redick have filled the void in the 3-point shooting department.

One thing’s for sure, the Sixers aren’t the same team from a season ago. They look to be on their way of surpassing last season’s win total two months in. They were 4-13 in their first 17 games in 2016-17. Here’s a look at three takeaways from the first month of the 2017-18 season.
