Los Angeles Lakers: 3 things fans can be thankful for this Thanksgiving
By Jason Elbaum
It’s that time of year where we sit around the kitchen table, stuff our faces with a Thanksgiving feast, and reflect on all of the blessings in our lives that we are thankful for. The rebuilding Lakers currently sit at 7-10, and despite their recent losing ways, fans still have lots to be thankful for when it comes to their beloved Lakers.
The Los Angeles Lakers came into the 2017-18 season with a great deal of uncertainty as far as how the team would compete with the rest of the NBA. The biggest reason for this was that the team planned to rely on rookie point guard Lonzo Ball to lead the offense, and even the most educated basketball experts were skeptical about whether Ball’s college success would translate.
Through the first month of the season, Laker fans have watched the 20-year-old out of UCLA grow up before our very eyes, even if it has meant some growing pains. His excellent passing and rebounding have been overshadowed by his shooting struggles, but the team remains confident that he is their point guard of the future.
As far as the rest of the team is concerned, they are enjoying the fast-paced style of play that head coach Luke Walton encourages, and it appears as though the team is really enjoying sharing the ball. The team is currently 12th in the NBA in assists per game.
The Lakers are using this season as a chance to showcase their young assets and hopefully attract a superstar to Los Angeles in free agency this upcoming summer. Until then, let’s reflect on some things Lakers fans have to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
