Boston Celtics: It’s time to crown a new best team
After losing the first two games of the season to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Milwaukee Bucks, the Boston Celtics have cruised their way to a 14-2 record — an NBA best.
The Boston Celtics are rolling with an impressive 14-game winning streak, coming out on top over teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Toronto Raptors.
Thursday night the Celtics faced their hardest battle yet in the Golden State Warriors, a team that has the best starting lineup in the entire NBA with four All-Star players and two former MVPs in Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
With Boston facing a 17-point deficit in the middle of the third quarter, it seemed as if the game was coming to an end, especially against the Warriors. But Jaylen Brown had a different idea in mind, giving the Celtics a much-needed push and providing 22 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
According to Chuck Schilken of the Los Angeles Times, Brown, had this to say about his big play after losing his best friend:
"“I just felt I was out there playing, like I didn’t know who was out there… I just felt like it was me and him. I was just out there playing, and I wasn’t thinking. I was just getting up and down the floor.”"
It helped that the Warriors couldn’t find a way to get their shots to go down, only being able to score 88 points. Credit the Celtics for playing good defense, as it’s no easy feat to slow down this team.
After a win against the Warriors, is it time to crown the Celtics as the best team in the NBA? Right now, the Warriors (11-4) have the third-best record in the NBA, trailing the Houston Rockets (12-4) in the Western Conference.
The Celtics have the best record with an impressive 14-2 start to the season. This question was in the minds of many people as to who is NBA’s the best team right now, even before their win against the Warriors. Of course, being on a 14-game win streak surely helps Boston’s case, not to mention the fact that they’re doing this without All-Star Gordon Hayward, and already beat the Toronto Raptors in a game without Kyrie Irving.
Now, topping the most talented team in the entire NBA and seeing their win streak continue… the Celtics have established themselves as the early team to beat.
Previewing the team’s upcoming schedule, it appears that this streak will most likely continue. They face the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic and the Indiana Pacers next.

Their hardest battle will be against the Detroit Pistons (Nov. 27), and the Philadelphia 76ers (Nov. 30). Let’s see if this streak continues for Boston to retain its status as the current best team in the NBA.
