The season is just about through it’s first month and some rookies are finding their groove. Check out the Week 5 Rookie of the Year ladder here.

The 2017-18 NBA season saw another exciting week culminating in a Lonzo Ball vs. Ben Simmons matchup on the Wednesday night slate of games. The Philadelphia 76ers shined the brightest in the end, despite being the road team, winning 115-109 over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Simmons and second-year big man Joel Embiid are becoming a dominant force before our very eyes and it’s been quite entertaining.

Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball became the youngest player in the NBA to record a triple-double (19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds) last Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Lakers lost 98-90 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Ball joins Ben Simmons as the only other rookie with a triple-double this season, but after a rough few games, he’s fallen out of this week’s Rookie of the Year ladder.

This week welcomes two newcomers to the fold as Charlotte Hornets rookie Malik Monk also moves just outside of this week’s top 10 ranks. Monk didn’t have a terrible week himself, it just speaks to the amount of talent present in this year’s rookie class.

This year’s Rookie of the Year award race has been an exciting one and it will only get better as more games are played. A few rookies have shown that already as they’ve climbed up the Week 5 power rankings. Here’s a look at the rankings.
