The Milwaukee Bucks won the Eric Bledsoe sweepstakes and will bring the talented point guard aboard. Here are five reasons the trade was a win for the Bucks.

When Eric Bledsoe was sent home by the Phoenix Suns earlier this season, the clock was ticking on a trade. The Milwaukee Bucks were in the mix as a potential destination for the talented point guard, and Tuesday they officially beat the competition to will bring Bledsoe into the fold.

The start of the season has not gone according to plan for the Bucks. While Giannis Antetokounmpo has been every bit the superstar he was hoped to be, the supporting cast has been inconsistent and their defense has been terrible. They needed a change.

Bledsoe comes aboard as a potential shot-in-the-arm for the Bucks. A 20-point per game scorer just a season ago, his timeline did not fit “The Timeline” for the Suns, and he has been the subject of trade rumors since the summer of 2016. Finally, he will get a fresh start in Milwaukee.

The trade was first reported by ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe on Tuesday morning:

A protected second-rounder was later added to the deal, and the specific protections on the first-rounder were disclosed as the day moved on.

On the surface, the Suns got a productive center in Greg Monroe — an area of weakness for Phoenix — and cap relief next summer, as Monroe’s deal is expiring while Bledsoe has one year remaining. That, plus a pair of picks, looks like a decent haul. But for a player of Bledsoe’s caliber, to not get one young prospect has to be seen as a disappointment for Phoenix fans.

For a number of reasons, the Milwaukee Bucks won this trade. Here are five of the reasons this will be a win for the Bucks.
