Bench

The Washington Wizards’ bench had a bit of an up-and-down road trip. They were outscored 36-21 by the Lakers, 44-27 by the Warriors and 41-26 by the Denver Nuggets back on Oct. 23.

The Wizards have a few veterans this season at their disposal, a few of which are returning from injury. The original outlook viewed Tim Frazier as their biggest asset off the bench, but so far that award has gone to Mike Scott.

Scott is averaging 8.0 points and 3.6 rebounds on 46.3 percent shooting from the field. Despite a few rough shooting nights against the Nuggets and Lakers, Scott bounced back nicely against the Warriors (despite the loss) and the Kings with back-to-back double-figure scoring games.

He scored 14 points against the Warriors and 13 points against the Kings in their recent victory. Right behind Scott is volume-shooter Jodie Meeks. Meeks is averaging 10.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while shooting 35.7 percent from 3-point range.

Now, they’ll just need Tim Frazier to figure things out and either Smith or Ian Mahinmi to remain healthy. Smith missed three games already with an injury. Mahinmi has appeared in all six games, but did leave their game with the Lakers early with an ankle injury.

Grade: B-
