Looking to make a statement during a three-game West coast swing, the Detroit Pistons handed the Los Angeles Clippers their first loss and bested the defending champs.

In recent years, a trip to the West coast spelled doom and gloom for the Detroit Pistons. Saturday night the Detroit Pistons defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 95-87 in the first game of a three-game road trip through California.

Sunday night “Deeeeee-troit basketball!” headed to the Bay Area and defeated the defending NBA champions, 115 -107.

After handing the Clippers their first loss of the season and dropping the Golden State Warriors to 2-2 at Oracle Arena, it’s not inconceivable that the Pistons could go 3-0 on this road trip.

The team that defeated the Clippers did not look like the same team that took the court in the Bay against the Golden State Warriors. Saturday night the Detroit Pistons and the Clippers engaged in a defensive battle. The loss to the Pistons was the first time this season Blake Griffin and company did not score 90 points or more. The Pistons who took the court in Oracle beat the Warriors at their own game.

The Pistons’ Twitter account first tweet Monday morning let the fans know Sunday’s win wasn’t a dream or a figment of their imagination.
