1. Starters meshing well in the early going

The Washington Wizards got their third victory of the season with a strong showing from the starting lineup. Despite not shooting the ball particularly well (44.4 percent from the field), they found a way to get a victory. Their core guys are beginning to show the chemistry required to get gritty wins such as this one.

John Wall finished with 19 points and 12 assists. He was 3-of-13 from the field but also 13-for-15 from the free throw line. Despite the bad shooting night, Wall still found a way to be productive offensively. Bradley Beal finished with 20 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Otto Porter had a double-double of his own with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Marcin Gortat was nearly perfect from the field, going 6-of-7 with 13 points and five rebounds. He did end up fouling out, but Washington still won the game. He’ll need to stay out of foul trouble with the Wizards’ limited frontcourt. Gortat is averaging 4.7 fouls per game so far.

Wednesday night, the Wizards face Lonzo Ball and the Los Angeles Lakers. The game has seen its fair share of trash talk already which has culminated in some bulletin board material from both sides.

Early reports indicated some players on the Lakers’ roster didn’t take too kindly to Gortat’s tweet. It all certainly adds some more fuel to the game, which is set to tip-off at 10:30 p.m. ET.
