The Washington Wizards are still undefeated in 2017-18 as they begin a West Coast road trip. Here are three takeaways from their victory over the Denver Nuggets.

The Washington Wizards are 3-0 after defeating the Denver Nuggets, 109-104 on Monday night. The Wizards did enough to get their first victory on a four-game West Coast road trip. They visit some up-and-coming teams as well as the Golden State Warriors on Friday, Oct. 27 on an early road trip. They will return home on Nov. 1 when they host the Phoenix Suns.

Washington is missing a few players on the injury mend leaving them rather thin on the frontcourt. The starters sans Markieff Morris and Jason Smith have still managed to hold down the fort despite their status.

They combined for 83 points, with Kelly Oubre Jr. responding well despite the loss of Jason Smith during the first game of the season. Oubre Jr. finished with 14 points, four rebounds and two steals in 37 minutes of play. Smith has missed the last two games due to a shoulder injury suffered on Oct. 18 against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Wizards still found a way to get the victory with a strong performance from the starting five. Here’s a look at three takeaways from their victory and a look at what to watch for Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
