No.2 Kristaps Porzingis looked brand new

He certainly put on weight from this past summer between the weight room an participating in EuroLeage. He looked light on his feet and comfortable, injury free. Porzingis did everything is his power to single-handedly prevent this game from out of control early and even taking a small lead early on.

Porzingis led the team in minutes (38), points (31) and rebounds (12) while staying out of foul trouble making the most of his minutes. This is exactly what Knicks fans were waiting to erupt in several close games last season, and is what he is capable of being “light on his feet and comfortable, injury free.”

It’s unfortunate that the Knicks were given a one-sided match-up for their season opener, but it should serve as a rude awakening. Teams are becoming okay with running up the scoreboard, these teams want to send messages. While Porzingis looked excellent this understandably sets a bad tone for the season, but patience is key.

If the team can gather a shred of chemistry around Kristaps Porzingis he will be given a chance to keep the Knicks in games “almost” like while he and Carmelo Anthony were teammates.
