The Indiana Pacers opened up the 2017-18 season with a 140-131 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Here are the three biggest takeaways from the game.

The current league leader in points per game, 2-point field goal percentage and shots made? The 1-0 Indiana Pacers.

In their 2017-18 NBA season opener, the Pacers came out absolutely scorching. They were getting to the basket, pushing in transition, and hitting their free throws. All of this led to them scoring 140 points in just 48 minutes against the Brooklyn Nets.

Unfortunately, they still gave up 131 points and struggled from the 3-point line. The pros outweighed their cons, however, and they were able to get the W. Victor Oladipo led the way with a 22-5-4-4 stat line, Darren Collison had 21 points and 11 assists and Myles Turner added 21 points and 11 rebounds. Thaddeus Young chipped in 17 points and 11 boards, while Lance Stephenson and Domantas Sabonis added 16 points apiece off the bench.

Many noteworthy things happened that should be monitored going forward during the season, but three things, in particular, stood out to me as the most significant takeaways from Wednesday night’s game.
