San Antonio Spurs: 5 goals for Kawhi Leonard in 2017-18
5. Increase his assists per game
Kawhi Leonard is the undisputed leader of the offense for the San Antonio Spurs. Last season he averaged 25.5 points per game to sit among the top-10 scorers in the NBA. Unfortunately, with some of the key pieces potentially slowing down with age, Leonard is going to need to do more.
If he starts to try and score too much more, defenses will have an easier time stopping the Spurs. Double Kawhi, he shoots a lower percentage and you should win. Where Leonard is going to benefit the team most is if he starts to create a whole lot more for others. He was good last season, averaging 3.5 assists per game, but this season he needs to be better.

He will be surrounded by great shooters in Patty Mills, Danny Green, Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge. By creating more and raising his assists per game, the Spurs remain dangerous on offense, meaning he will have a whole lot more space to work with than if he was simply trying to do all the scoring.
Players have to respect the shooting of Leonard, as he was 38 percent from behind the arc last season. He is able to create his own shot from inside the arc too. Add an even more advanced passing game to this and Leonard will simply be unstoppable.
