Orlando Magic: 5 goals for Jonathon Simmons in 2017-18
1. Earn the starting small forward job
The Orlando Magic tried implementing a three-guard rotation previously, shifting Evan Fournier to small forward to complete the task. The results were disastrous, as Fournier struggled to defend opposing small forwards and failed to deliver consistent offensive performances.
Orlando responded by dealing away Victor Oladipo and moving Founier back to the shooting guard position.
As Wednesday’s regular season opener against the Heat rapidly approaches, the starting lineup appears to be fluid for the Magic.
Terrence Ross is slated as the starting small forward, but defensive specialist Jonathon Simmons could prove to be the better fit for the team.
