2. Play more than 25 minutes a night

Orlando Magic head coach Frank Vogel had difficulty keeping Jonathon Simmons on the bench during preseason.

Simmons cracked the starting rotation three times during the six-game set and spent 24.3 minutes a night on the floor, more than any other player on the Magic roster.

After two seasons in the NBA, Simmons managed to spend 25 or more minutes on the court in 13.5 percent of his regular season appearances, but once he became a major defensive factor for the Spurs last season, he received a steady dose of playing time in the playoffs.

Simmons played 25 or more minutes in five of his 15 postseason contests last year, with all five of those contests coming against the Houston Rockets or the eventual champion Golden State Warriors.

With Orlando trying to establish a defensive identity, something Vogel proved successful at doing during his stint with the Pacers, Simmons could become a major factor in the rotation.
