5. Foul less often

This is a weird one. Have you ever seen this goal for a player before?

Young big men typically stink of defense. Sabonis, while better than most thought he would be, was no exception last season. However, he showed that he almost certainly will be a competent defender someday, as he has all the intangibles and intelligence to be an effective player on that end of the floor.

The problem is, he has to be on the court.

Sabonis has a bad fouling problem. He is a ground-bound player who doesn’t like to jump, and when he does, he often is biting at pump fakes. He averaged 4.4 fouls per 36 minutes. Only Marquese Chriss averaged more among all players with as many minutes as Sabonis.

If Sabonis can avoid fouling, he can stay on the floor more. He should really focus on accomplishing this goal in particular so that he can have more impact night in and night out.
