2.  Return to All-Star form

One of the most important goals for Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons this season is for their center to return to his All-Star form. The last time the Pistons made the playoffs, Andre Drummond took home the NBA rebounding title and played in his first All-Star game.

He has spoken several times about his conditioning and improved physical performance since losing 30 pounds and having a deviated septum repaired. Drummond’s preseason numbers reflect the drive and heart of an All-Star player.

If the 2015-16 season is any indication, once Drummond sets his sights on a goal there’s no stopping him. After winning the rebounding title that year, Drummond discussed his mindset with Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

"“’I told you guys last year I set a goal to be the No. 1 rebounder in the league, and I went ahead and did it,’ Drummond said.”"

This season, Drummond has set his sights on getting back on the NBA All-Star roster. Stan Van Gundy told Keith Langlois of NBA.com what he thinks it will take for Drummond to get back on an NBA All-Star roster.

"“To really get him to focus on the things that he does at not even a high level – at an elite level, and doing those well. So many times guys think the way to becoming great is to be able to do more and more things. In a lot of cases, it’s more doing the things that you already do at a higher level. “Become that All-Defense type of guy. Because he’s already a historically great rebounder and to add to that becoming a great defender and build his game from there and everything to be built around the basket – his pick and rolls, going to the rim, running the floor, all of that.”"

If Drummond can pull all the pieces together his coach mentioned, not only will Drummond find himself back in the NBA All-Star game, the Detroit Pistons might find themselves back in the playoffs.
