Detroit Pistons: 5 goals for Andre Drummond in 2017-18
Taking the lead in Motown can return Andre Drummond to All-Star status and restore the Detroit Pistons’ championship aspirations.
The Detroit Pistons need Andre Drummond to take command of the team both in the locker room and on the court to have success this season. Reggie Jackson drove that point home during a players’ only meeting in Las Vegas recently, according to NBA.com.
"“’You have to come in and accept it every day that you’re the best player,’ Jackson told Drummond. ‘You control the game the most.’ “’I have to stand side by side with my man Dre and understand this team is going to go as far as we take them. We’ve got to get on the same page and we have to push ourselves somewhere we’ve never been for our team to go somewhere.’”"
If Drummond takes his teammates’ advice to heart, the Detroit Pistons could find themselves back in the playoffs this year.
During the offseason, Drummond focused on improving his free throw percentage. The effort seems to be working. Drummond was 16-of-20 from the charity stripe this preseason.
After a preseason game in Toronto Drummond discussed his newfound confidence from the free throw line with NBA.com.
"“’In my head, I feel like it’s going to be a make every time,’ he said. ‘Because I put in the time on it off and on the court, mentally and physically, to shoot the ball the way I’m shooting it now.’”"
Suffice it to say Drummond’s highlight reel from the 2016-17 season doesn’t include many free throws.
If Drummond can focus on the following goals, he could lead his team back to the playoffs and find himself making another All-Star appearance. Here are five goals the Detroit Pistons center should have for his 2017-18 season.
