Dallas Mavericks: 5 goals for Yogi Ferrell in 2017-18
The Dallas Mavericks seem to have found a diamond in the rough in point guard Yogi Ferrell. In Year 2, we take a look at five goals for Ferrell in 2017-18.
Point guard Yogi Ferrell was a member of the Brooklyn Nets to start the 2016-17 season after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft. Then, the rookie was subsequently cut from the team.
Not long after that, the Dallas Mavericks picked him up on a 10-day contract from the G League. Ferrell would go on to do the rest thereafter. He averaged 11.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in 2016-17 for the Mavericks. His 40.3 percent 3-point field goal percentage ranked third on the team last season.
This season, Yogi Ferrell is set to be a solid piece on the Mavericks roster after bursting onto the scene. He scored 32 points, shooting 9-of-11 from 3-point range in a 108-104 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers back in February. He tied the NBA rookie record for 3-pointers made in a game in just his fourth start with the team.
Outside of his shooting ability, Ferrell is also seen as a gritty defender. He averaged 1.1 steals per game in 36 appearances with Dallas and has the strength to hold his own in the trenches.
In 2017-18, he’ll have a full season to get adjusted with the Dallas Mavericks, which should bode well for both parties. Here’s a look at five goals for Yogi Ferrell as we enter the 2017-18 season.
