1. Winning over the fans

The Nets have constantly been in a battle for attention with the Knicks since making the transition from New Jersey in 2012. The team has struggled to remain relevant in the city since it’s been forever recognized as a Knicks town.

In response to this, the Nets have attempted to bridge the gap between the players and the community by offering special events. The most recent event was a special open practice outside with the fans at Brooklyn Bridge Park showcasing the new roster and entertaining the crowd.

The annual rookie dance contest was one of the many activities fans got to enjoy during the special event. Jeremy Lin showed his enthusiasm with the audience, recording the hilarious action.

Nets rookie center Jarrett Allen is making his presence felt in more ways than just on the court, as he’s giving back to his new Brooklyn community as well.

The former Texas Longhorn provided free haircuts for kids in the neighborhood, essentially making him a local fan favorite while battling for playing time in the upcoming regular season. Allen spoke with the media regarding his generous donation and the reasons for it.

"“It’s me wanting to give back….I have the money now, so I might as well give back to the community. [My mother] always wanted me to think about people, so I’ve always been this way. I was thinking how I could give back. And seeing as how my hair is my biggest attribute right now, so what better than a barber shop?”"
