The 2017-18 regular season is upon us, as the Brooklyn Nets are ready to turn some heads in the NBA. Here are the three major takeaways from preseason.

In a preseason where most teams hope to fine-tune their rosters, the Brooklyn Nets used their four-game preseason slate to send a clear message to the rest of the NBA that they are for real.

The returning Jeremy Lin has assumed the role as team leader from a now-departed Brook Lopez and has already begun setting the tone for a new year. Kenny Atkinson is in his second year as a head coach and will finally have a roster that he can mold into the team he’s always desired but couldn’t have due to last year’s inherited problems.

Brooklyn finished the preseason with a 3-1 record, securing victories over the Miami Heat and two wins over the New York Knicks. Newcomers D’Angelo Russell, Allen Crabbe and DeMarre Carroll all played a huge part in the resurgent exhibition slate, previewing many special moments for fans to enjoy during the regular season.

In a shortened preseason, they showed why many fans around New York City may start heading to Brooklyn more instead of the team based out of Manhattan for NBA basketball. With that being said, here are the three major takeaways from the Nets’ surprising preseason.
