NBA: Ranking all 30 starting power forwards for 2017-18
26. Marcus Morris, Boston Celtics
Brad Stevens has tinkered around with a few starting lineups in the preseason while Marcus Morris was dealing with his legal situation, including using Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on the wings in small-ball lineups, but since that will probably be too much inexperience on the floor at once, Mook is the most logical solution at the 4.
Aron Baynes could also get some run alongside Al Horford, but Morris is probably the better option. Last season in Motown, he averaged 14.0 points per game, but only pulled down 4.6 rebounds per game and shot an underwhelming 41.6 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from downtown.
This could very well open the door for Baynes, a better rebounder and defender, but Morris has more potential to spread the floor. Either way, suffice it to say the Boston Celtics‘ underwhelming situation at power forward is the biggest drawback of clearing room for Gordon Hayward.
