30. John Collins, Atlanta Hawks

Ersan Ilyasova enters the season as the Atlanta Hawks‘ starting power forward, but that won’t last long once the team starts dropping games left and right and the fans start calling for their Rookie of the Year dark horse, John Collins. No offense to Ilyasova, but this is the most interesting outcome anyway.

As the 19th overall pick in this year’s draft, Collins has some work to do on the offensive end, but he’s a promising 20-year-old who could wind up being one of the biggest steals of a loaded 2017 rookie class.

Collins earned All-NBA Summer League honors behind 15.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game on 59.3 percent shooting, so even though that was just Summer League, and even though he’ll struggle once he’s thrust into a starting role, keep your eye on this rookie. He might be one of the lone bright spots in Atlanta’s upcoming season.
