4. Become a better leader

During his time in Portland, Aldridge was looked at as the leader of the team. He was joined by Damian Lillard, but he was still young at the time. Since then, Aldridge has seemed to fall lower on the totem pole as far as being a leader for the Spurs.

When Leonard went down in last year’s Western Conference Finals, everyone looked to Aldridge to pick up the mantle. Long story short, he failed. The Spurs blew a 62-42 halftime lead in Game 1 and would go on to get swept by the Golden State Warriors. After that series, it was obvious who was the leader of the Spurs.

With a new season approaching, it is time for Aldridge to become more of a leader to these younger guys — especially Joffrey Lauvergne, who is the team’s lone backup center.

With 11 NBA seasons under his belt, it is obvious that Aldridge has some knowledge to offer. This season especially, the Spurs need it more than ever. If they want a chance at winning a title, Leonard can’t do it alone.
