3. Post a double-digit rebound average

For all his talents, Myles Turner is not a particularly good rebounder for a 6’11” center. He grabbed 5.5 boards per game as a rookie (22.8 minutes per game), and increased that average to 7.3 rebounds in 31.4 minutes per game last year.

Turner averaged 0.24 rebounds per minute in 2015-16, and that number fell slightly (0.23) this past season. In order to reach the next level, he has to become a more effective rebounder.

If Turner continues to gain strength, it will help him get better rebounding position against opposing bigs — at present, he tends to use his athleticism as his main tool to snag rebounds.

Another thing that may help Turner increase his rebounding total is the deletion of last season’s second-leading rebounder, Paul George. There are no dominant rebounders on the Pacers’ roster, so there will be an opportunity for Myles Turner to fill that void.

Turner has the desire and the athletic ability to rebound well, but he needs to continue to improve his physique and work on blocking out and hauling down rebounds through good positioning.

Averaging 10 rebounds per game is a lofty goal for Turner, but it is attainable through a combination of individual improvement and increased opportunity.
