Utah Jazz: 5 goals for Rodney Hood in 2017-18

1. Win Most Improved Player of the Year Award

Rodney Hood could easily make an argument for being one of the most underrated players, as the man who was once regarded solely as a catch-and-shoot option, has managed to showcase that he can impact games in a multitude of ways in just three seasons.

Now, he will be called upon to lead the Jazz offensive attack, and earn the Most Improved Player Award, as Hood knows that he will be returning to a Utah squad in desperate search for scoring.

"“I gotta score,” Hood stated to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune at Jazz Media Day. “I have to be one of those guys that puts the ball in the basket and make plays as well. I think that’s a part of my game that’s evolving.”"

If Hood can manage to get to the rim, and build upon his scoring average this coming season, then it just might be possible

The franchise is looking for someone to step in and fill Gordon Hayward’s shoes, and while Hood possesses a deadly jumper, showcasing a much more rounded skill-set — such as a productive post game — could prove to be a critical factor in whether or not his name is mentioned alongside D’Angelo Russell, Myles Turner and Brandon Ingram for the award come season’s end.
