29. Ben McLemore, Memphis Grizzlies

Foot surgery was expected to sideline Ben McLemore for 12 weeks, but since he’s already in week nine of the recovery process, he should be returning to the Memphis Grizzlies‘ lineup soon. Good thing too, since their options at at 2-guard spot were already limited with McLemore.

Wayne Selden has been making the most of his starting opportunities during the preseason, but if a healthy McLemore can’t surpass him for the starting job, he might as well call it a career. As for Tyreke Evans, the Grizz seem to prefer to bring him off the bench as the lead playmaker for the second unit.

McLemore’s first four years have been mired by underwhelming performances, Sacramento’s head coaching carousel and organizational dysfunction. His 8.1 points per game last year don’t inspire much hope, but he did shoot a career 38.2 percent from 3-point range, which he’s increased every year so far. Hopefully a change of scenery and a return to 100 percent health does wonders for a career that’s sputtered thus far.
