Quick Thoughts

The Washington Wizards saw some shuffling on their roster for the 2017-18 season. The departures of Brandon Jennings and Bojan Bogdanovic left huge holes in their bench production but they hope the signings of veterans Jodie Meeks, Mike Scott, Tim Frazier and Donald Sloan can change things.

Meeks has been hobbled by injury as he enters his ninth season in the league, but he’s a career 37.6 percent shooter from the 3-point line. He’s healthy entering the 2017-18 season and ready to fill a void for the Wizards.

Point guard Tim Frazier was another big pickup after Washington traded away the 52nd overall pick in this year’s draft for a proven player. Frazier is capable of running the second unit when Wall is out and can score when needed as well.

Forward Mike Scott, who fell out of the Atlanta Hawks‘ rotation last season, signed with the Wizards on a veteran’s minimum deal. He’s looking to find his way again after appearing in just 18 games in 2016-17.

Point guard Donald Sloan is a wild card for the Wizards and a key signing now that second-year guard Sheldon Mac is out 6-8 months with a torn Achilles. He averaged 7.0 points, 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game in his last stint with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2015-16 season.
