The Brooklyn Nets are currently undefeated in preseason play as they continue to build their roster for a successful 2017-18 NBA season and beyond.

The Brooklyn Nets are riding high after three consecutive victories to start the 2017-18 preseason, including two convincing victories over the rival New York Knicks.

As the Nets continue to play well, they hope to win over more local fans as the team has struggled heavily the past few seasons due to poor play and past front office positions.

The intriguing addition of guard D’Angelo Russell from the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for longtime franchise center Brook Lopez was the first domino to fall in the quest to fix the Nets. That move instantly raised the team’s profile around the league, bringing in a still very young and talented player that can instantly be a face of the franchise for years to come.

A plan to develop exciting talent alongside a veteran guard in Jeremy Lin can be a lethal combination that will surprise many teams in the Eastern Conference.

More from Brooklyn Nets

Head coach Kenny Atkinson is in his second season as a NBA coach, and it’s believed for the first time he has a sufficient amount of talent on the roster to see his vision in action. The talented backcourt and finally acquiring an impact player in Allen Crabbe from the Portland Trail Blazers will allow for more combinations on the floor than Nets fans are used to from the team.

During an interview with the New York Post, Atkinson gushed over the potential of returning third-year Nets forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

"“I’ve really been kind of thrilled with his performance and that’s from the first day of training camp. He’s matured. I think he’s more level, even-keeled, I think he’s more consistent. It’ll be huge if he can continue that type of demeanor, that type of approach.“He’s a better passer than we think, he’s been facilitating our break. We give him a certain amount of freedom to drive it and like I said, when he’s spotting up and he’s open, he’s got freedom to shoot it. I like all the other things he’s doing. He’s been a complete player.”"

Hollis-Jefferson is averaging 10 points and six rebounds per game for the undefeated preseason Nets, who will be looking to keep the momentum going in their upcoming exhibition matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday.

Nets rookie center Jarrett Allen is making his presence felt in more ways than just on the court, as he’s giving back to his new Brooklyn community as well.

The former Texas Longhorn provided free haircuts for kids in the neighborhood, essentially making him a local fan favorite while battling for playing time in the upcoming regular season. Allen spoke with the media regarding his generous donation and the reasons for it.

"“It’s me wanting to give back….I have the money now, so I might as well give back to the community. [My mother] always wanted me to think about people, so I’ve always been this way. I was thinking how I could give back. And seeing as how my hair is my biggest attribute right now, so what better than a barber shop?”"

The Nets are off to a great start in their quest reverse the team’s poor image by making the appropriate changes on and off the court.

After all, they cannot become a true powerhouse in the Eastern Conference if they cannot win over their own city first.
