Boston Celtics: 5 goals for Kyrie Irving in 2017-18
2. Earn All-NBA First Team selection
Kyrie Irving has garnered plenty of respect from around the league throughout his six seasons, but true recognition of his talents has proven to be elusive.
Aside from his multiple All-Star game selections, inclusion on the 2016 USA Olympic basketball team and a legion of young fans throughout the world, Irving hasn’t entrenched himself as one of the truly elite players in the game.
The only time Irving was appointed to an All-NBA team came in 2014-15, when he was a Third Team selection.
Last year, Irving totaled just 14 All-NBA votes, only two more than Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard and the sixth-highest among all point guards in the league.
The additional prominence Irving will receive in Boston as the primary facilitator could be enough to garner a selection to the All-NBA First Team, and elevate his status to a truly elite performer.
