5. Average 16 points a game

Averaging 16 points a game may seem a little high, but Gay has shown he can do it. Since his second season in the NBA, Gay has averaged 17 points per game or better. His career high is 21.1 points per game in 2014-15.

With a new role coming off the bench, he won’t have as many opportunities to score, but the Spurs will depend on him to score when he can. The ideal situation is to bring in Gay when Kawhi Leonard needs a rest. As a result, the Spurs will have someone on the floor who can score at all times.

Using someone with Gay’s experience as your main backup scorer is a dream. He’s shot 45 percent from the field in his career. He’s going to get looks while he is on the floor and coaches can be confident he’ll make them count. If he comes out being aggressive and makes his open shots, 16 points should be easy.
