Quick Thoughts

The Spurs had a reasonably quiet draft and free agency period. They appear to be wanting to stay the course with this current team as best they can. Why not? It was good enough for 61 wins last season.

Gone are Dewayne Dedmon, David Lee and Jonathon Simmons. All three of these players had an X-Factor and an edge about them, particularly on the defensive end for Dedmon and Simmons.

Signing Joffrey Lauvergne was simply a case of taking the best big available on the market at the time to replace Dedmon. The Spurs took a huge gamble on Rudy Gay due to the nature of the Achilles injury he suffered. He had to learn how to walk again after the injury, so it will be interesting to see how he does on court.

The Spurs did re-sign both Pau Gasol and Manu Ginobili this summer. Tony Parker comes off contract next summer so it will be interesting to see how he comes back from his quardricep injury. Four players have player options at the end of this season, including LaMarcus Aldridge.
