The Los Angeles Lakers have a new-look team as they look to build upon last year. Here’s a look at their strengths and weaknesses entering the 2017-18 season.

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t have the greatest of seasons in 2016-17. They went 26-56, finishing 14th in the Western Conference. It was another abysmal finish for the fourth straight season, missing the NBA Playoffs once again.

The Lakers haven’t made the playoffs since the 2012-13 season, back when Mike Brown was the head coach. Since then, they’ve had three new head coaches. Under Luke Walton, they’re looking to head in a different direction and it showed in the offseason.

L.A. traded D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets for Brook Lopez and got rid of Timofey Mozgov as well. It signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a one-year deal and drafted point guard Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Now, the future looks bright for the Lakers as they look to become a powerhouse once again in the NBA. Ball finished the summer taking away the MVP Award in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. He averaged 16.3 points, 9.3 assists, 7.7 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game as Los Angeles finished with a 6-2 record.

He hopes to carry his success over to the regular season, but there will be bumps in the road for the organization. Here we take a look at the Los Angeles Lakers’ biggest strengths and weaknesses entering the 2017-18 season.
