3. Lack of production from big men

This simply cant be overstated that the Washington Wizards’ bench must not become solely predictable having little to no offensive production from their reserve big men.

Daniel Ochefu saw 23 minutes of playing time but very few scoring opportunities and was virtually a non-factor for the Wizards. He shot 1-for-2 from the field and grabbed just one rebound, one assist and one steal but couldn’t keep himself out of foul trouble as usual, committing four personal fouls. This was an issue that plagued him throughout Summer League, but in this matchup he seems to have taken a couple steps back rather than forward.

Ian Mahinmi was nearly as bad, although he played a fraction of the minutes compared to Ochefu. Mahinmi played a total of eight minutes, who had zero official shot attempts and went 1-for-4 from the line. The only high note of his performance was his measly four rebounds, which is not much of a high note and closer to being considered a reach for optimism.

We all know Marcin Gortat will not be around forever, and it seems the Wizards’ talent pool at the 5 may have to hit the reset button this offseason.
