3. Porzingis and the trouble with the big men

Kristaps Porzingis looked like a shell of himself against the Brooklyn Nets, missing some pep in his step and simply exhibiting  no fire in his game. On 2-of-7 shooting in 15 minutes of play, Kristaps was unable to heat up on offense. On defense he was able to gather three blocks and five rebounds, but then his familiar self appeared and committed five all very avoidable fouls.

It is exactly this kind of play from KP that will need to improve, as this was a flaw that had New York come up empty several games last season.

In other news, probably the only positive takeaway from the frontcourt was Willy Hernangomez and his double-double in just 21 minutes of play. He shot 5-for-9 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds, committing no fouls on the evening.

Joakim Noah proved once more how incapable he is on offense, shooting 0-for-2 in eight minutes of play. Kyle O’Quinn had an average night playing 17 minutes on the court, shooting 3-for-9 from the field and posting six rebounds and two blocks.

Enes Kanter sat for the night, and the Knicks’ frontcourt appears mediocre at best as their apparent superstar has been everything but super thus far.
