3. Lead the Nets in scoring

Despite not being known as a big-time athlete, Russell can generate buckets on a consistent basis, particularly within high pick-and-roll sets. A place where he made the bulk of his living out in Los Angeles under head coach Luke Walton, who sought to let Russell operate in flow, and score in a variety of ways within their Warriors-like motion offense last season.

Now, Russell will be provided with the green light to showcase his full scoring prowess out in Brooklyn, as the Nets will call upon the leader of their youth movement to guide the team’s offensive attack and give him the opportunity to get more touches than ever before this coming season at shooting guard, which should only help increase the likelihood of Russell leading the team in scoring come 2018.

While the Nets will feature key veterans such as Timofey Mozgov, Trevor Booker and Jeremy Lin on their roster this year, Russell is arguably the team’s most polished scorer on offense, as he has the skills to play off the dribble, drive to the rim and shoot the basketball effectively in catch-and-shoot situations.

He will have a solid backcourt partner in Lin to set him up for clean looks off drive and kicks, and with Rondae Hollis-Jefferson at the 4, it could help open up the floor for Russell to have more success as a scorer — resulting in yet another career-year. Accomplishing the following goal would help Russell to officially cement his place as the face of the Nets in the post-Brook Lopez era.
