Strength No. 1: The pick-and-roll

Two of the frontcourt additions made by the Atlanta Hawks this summer are expected to set screens to free up point guard Dennis Schroder and then dash to the rim.

A season ago, the Hawks ran the pick-and-roll play with Schroder an average of 10.1 times a game, seventh-most in the NBA and over half of his total possessions. The Hawks will continue to operate out of the pick-and-roll frequently next season, even with a new cast of players surrounding Schroder.

Rookie John Collins, the 19th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, has already demonstrated his athleticism at the basket, humiliating anyone that has dared to defend the paint against him.

Dewayne Dedmon, a center signed in free agency from San Antonio, was one of the most effective players at rolling to the basket a season ago, scoring 1.15 points per pick-and-roll possession and shooting 62.9 percent from the field on those plays.

Atlanta has plenty of players capable of finishing at the rim next season and with Schroder commanding the offense, he will create plenty of easy scoring chances at the rim.
