The San Antonio Spurs are looking to have another successful season. With that, let’s look at the team’s biggest strengths and weaknesses in 2017-18.

The 2017-18 NBA season is approaching and the San Antonio Spurs are gearing up for the new season. The team has seen players come and go over the past few years. As a result, the roster has added some new faces for the 2017-18 season. But with the Western Conference only getting stronger, the Spurs have a lot to prove.

Over the offseason, the Spurs lost a few key players from last year’s team. Dewayne Dedmon was able to be a crucial component coming off the bench, securing 6.5 rebounds per game while also adding 5.1 points. Jonathan Simmons was also able to bring a spark on the offensive end by adding 6.2 points per game.

While neither of these players were All-Star talents, they played a huge part in the success of the team. But, the Spurs were able to grab some talent to fill those voids.

Rudy Gay is the biggest signing for the Spurs this offseason. Gay was once a deadly weapon for the Memphis Grizzlies at the start of his career. Since then he’s been solid, but nothing like he used to be. Other players that the Spurs signed are Brandon Paul, Joffrey Lauvergne and rookie Derrick White.

With these new faces on the team, this could be a make-or-break year for the Spurs. Let’s take a look at some of the strengths and weaknesses for the Spurs this season.
