Andrew Wiggins is an interesting piece for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season. He is on the verge of being an All-Star, but now somewhat overshadowed. Here are five goals for Wiggins in 2017-18.

Andrew Wiggins was at the forefront of several trade rumors throughout the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ 2017 offseason. Despite the rumors, the Timberwolves front office maintained the position that they were committed to Wiggins long-term.

With the 2017-18 NBA season approaching, Wiggins is in a position to become a star under the national spotlight for the first time in his career.

Wiggins is a young talent that has drawn comparisons to Kobe Bryant. It is hard to argue the comparison because it came from Kobe Bryant himself.  Wiggins has improved every year during his career. This season he will be surrounded by more talent than he has ever played with.

Playing with better players will not allow teams to exploit his weaknesses as much as the past. To be fair, some of the negative stats against Wiggins are unfair due to the lack of depth on the roster prior to this summer.

This year, Wiggins has an excellent opportunity to improve his weaknesses and become a star in the NBA. The Star Tribune recently spoke with ESPN‘s Dorris Burke about the Wolves, and she said the following about Wiggins potential impact this season:

"“And I feel like if there’s one huge story line aside from or really connected to the question of whether the Timberwolves are finally going to get it together, it’s the question of what exactly they have in Andrew Wiggins. I think we know more about Towns at this point than we do Wiggins, which is sort of strange since Towns has only been here two years and Andrew has been here for three. “Certainly I’m interested in Jimmy Butler’s impact and what he brings to the team. But if you’re looking for the difference between a team that might win 40 or maybe 45 games and one that might be really on the way to something special, it’s Wiggins. Is he just a scorer, or is he really going to be a star? I just get that feeling. I think Thibs likes him, and they’re going to give him the money, but I just don’t know yet.”"

In order for Wiggins to be the difference-maker he must improve from last season. Here are five goals for him that will help the Minnesota Timberwolves reach the next level.
