The New York Knicks lost their preseason debut against the Brooklyn Nets, 115-107. Here are three takeaways and what we learned from this new group of Knicks.

We have all been more than anxious to see a number of players in their first minutes as New York Knicks. It was also long awaited to see what we would learn from a third-year Kristaps Porzingis, and the return of Tim Hardaway Jr.

All in all, the Knicks kept their preseason debut against the Brooklyn Nets interesting, although they trailed by 18 points at one point in the second half. They ended up closing the gap as close as four points later in the game.

There seems to have been more observable bad than good in this debut, but that should have been expected with Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott only just arriving in New York recently, with very little time to adjust to the culture.

We also had our first long overdue look at Frank Ntilikina after he seemed questionable to appear due to a groin injury in practice the day prior.

Whether you approve of last night’s performance or not, the Knicks are moving on quickly in the post-Melo era. Here are three takeaways from the New York Knicks’ preseason debut against the Nets.
