New York Knicks gave loyal season ticket holders a sneak peek at the 2017-18 roster during their annual open practice at Madison Square Garden.

The New York Knicks are only two days away from opening preseason at home against the Brooklyn Nets. In preparation for the matchup, New York held its annual open practice for fans to get familiar with the new squad for 2017-18.

The practice is not as strenuous as a regular closed-door setup, since the plan is for it to be fan friendly and benefit children in attendance. Knicks players took time throughout the day to engage with fans while running simple drills showcasing the new players. Head coach Jeff Hornacek was mic’d for fans to hear his instructions through the team’s formations.

Many topics heading into the season regarding the Knicks’ new focus after trading 10-time All-Star Carmelo Anthony, including the hopeful emergence of Kristaps Porzingis from being a talented “unicorn” to a consistent leader in the team’s progression and Tim Hardaway Jr.’s impact as a much-needed scoring threat after signing the big contract this offseason.

The scrimmage was exciting and filled with plenty of indications of the Knicks’ new offense no longer circling around Phil Jackson‘s triangle. Here are some takeaways from the Knicks’ annual open practice at Madison Square Garden.
