Toronto Raptors: 5 goals for Serge Ibaka in 2017-18
By Randy Porga
1. Adjust to Toronto culture and gameplan
It may seem like a given, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a few different rotations tested early in the season. With that being said, Ibaka saw more of his time split at the 5 since his first and second seasons in the league.
Perhaps we can see some small-ball rotations with newly acquired C.J Miles checking in, as well as rookie OG Anunoby once he’s healthy. Perhaps then we also may see a few of Ibaka’s previously mentioned goals get accomplished, since he would be spending more time down low.
With Valanciunas, Lucas Nogueira, and the potential promise in Jakob Poeltl, the Raptors are in an abundance of big men.
With all the pros and cons at the level Serge Ibaka is playing, it should be pointed out he saw an increase in his True Shooting Percentage last season for the first time in three years, despite a falling offensive rating. With only 23 regular season games as a Toronto Raptor, it is still unclear what role Ibaka will be expected to fill from the start of the year into a complete season.

If Serge Ibaka can adjust his game and meet all of these goals, he should be deemed as a complete package headed into his prime.
